Iron Fist Season 2 Review

Iron Fist would be no great loss to the Marvel brand.

The Iron Hand is back folks. This time around for the second season and I have to say it isn’t as bad as the first. Still not up to the standard of Daredevil or Luke Cage. The writers stepped up their game and actually gave us a splash of a story!

Be warned spoilers ahead! “A Duel of Iron” Season 2 of Marvel’s Iron Fist review will spoil the twist of the finale!

This time around we only got 10 episodes instead of the 13. No fluff episodes here. Danny spends the back half of the season coming to the stark realization that he may not have been the best equipped to carry the Iron Fist after all. The fire was burning him up inside, to the point where he becomes obsessed not with carrying out justice or trying to clean up the streets but simply just lighting up his fist and blasting things. He’s hooked on the power and the destruction it represents. For all his talk of balance, Danny has lost his center. Danny and Davos are meant to be a kind of Daredevil/Punisher rivalry, but Danny is an idiot and Davos isn’t scary, so who cares?

Mary Walker (Alice Eve) is the wild card this season. Introduced as an artist who befriends Danny on the street, there is more to her than meets the eye. She’s unsettlingly eccentric, with glassy-eyed mannerisms and opaque motives. She’s based on the Daredevil comics character Typhoid Mary, a villain with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

The twist at the final 30 minutes of the show is where things got interesting. We have a female Iron fist. Yeah, that’s right — Colleen Wing is the new Iron Fist. And she can channel her chi to a katana.

Danny and Ward are searching for a mysterious man named Orson Randall, and Danny apparently has some of his property and Randall wants it back. In the comics, Randall is a former Iron Fist prone to using two handguns that could channel his Iron Fist powers.

So the question is should you waste your time with the Iron Fist Season 2? No. The plot is something we all have seen before and the fight scenes still need some work. Also, Danny Rand is still extremely stupid.
